A Mental Health Awareness Event for Brothers
and NOT Just Those Who Love Them

Roxbury Community College

Purpose:

  • Illuminate mental health issues that affect Black men
  • Encourage Black men to become conscious of their own mental states
  • Engage participants in activities via workshops that will serve as informative tools to encourage self-awareness and possible treatment
  • Create an environment for African American men to feel comfortable and empowered to share their experiences
  • Identify clinical and non-clinical solutions for addressing various mental health conditions.
  • Cultivate new leadership among people of African descent, living in the Boston area and beyond, that is focused on these health care challenges.

  • Roots and Importance of African-centered Psychology
  • Causes and Treatment of Drug/Alcohol Abuse
  • Healthy Vs. Unhealthy Relationships
  • Impact of Imprisonment and CORI laws
